After a huge success with the inaugural Innovative Students’ Forum (ISF), from 27-29 May 2009, in Kuala Lumpur, Microsoft (Asia Pacific) is organizing ISF again in the 6th APAC Innovative Education Forum (RIEF) 2010. This event will be held in Singapore, from 9 to 11 March, at Shangri-La Hotel.
Should you be interested to provide your students with networking opportunity with students from other countries and grow their leadership skills, we would like to invite your students to start with a series of active participation via a Students Online Dialogue (URL as attached in the invitation letter).
1) Participation in ISF
Phase 1 (online dialogue)
a. Application for the online dialogue commences on 25 Jan and ends on 3 Feb
b. Online dialogue will commence on 25 Jan and end on 17 Feb
c. Based on the quality of the student’s participation in the online forum (starting from 25 Jan). This will be judged by TakingITGlobal (TIG)
d. The selection of participants will be based on application quality, as well as the need to bring together a geographically and experientially diverse group of participants.
e. Every effort will be made to include students from each APAC country
Phase 2 (participation in ISF in Singapore):
f. Abt 15 students will be selected from various APAC countries to participate in ISF, in-person
g. At the forum, they will going through collaborative work, leadership training, report writing, dialogue with school leaders and teachers at RIEF
h. Students will form teams and 3 teams with good project ideas will be eligible to receive USD 1,000 and/or software support from Microsoft in order to turn their project ideas into reality
Phase 3 (implementation of project ideas):
i. The 3 teams will be guided by experienced staff of TIG, receive project-related support until the end of 2010 and work to document their project experiences
j. Selected project may be showcased at the 2011 RIEF
2) All Students of ages 15-19 are encouraged to join an online dialogue. This can be done by completing a brief online application form by 3 Feb at this web site: http://www.rhapsodyconcept.com.sg/website/ms/rief10/?PGID=PAGE_AGENDA&ID=STUDENT . I have attached a formal invitation letter for your reference.
3) 1 to 2 student(s) will be selected to represent the country to:
a. Work with other students of Asia Pacific countries to produce a report related to the online dialogue (with support from TakingITGlobal (TIG))
b. Participate in RIEF in singapore to present their experiences and findings; and
c. Collaboratively develop innovative school- or classroom-based projects with the support of mentors from the region and TIG staff members
4) Sponsorship for Phase 2 - Travel and expenses will be borne by Microsoft (Asia Pacific).
