
The training aims to address the need of equipping personnel in the General Santos City Division with the needed skills in Basic Computer Office Management Operations by optimizing the use of internet as well as introduced the Proposed Division e-Communication Structure for future implementation, hence this training was conducted.
The Seminar-Workshop on Basic Computer Office Management Operations is a set of structured modules prepared to cater the needs of the division officials and personnel in the Department of Education for the 21st Century Schools System Model. The module was composed of six topics namely (a) Introduction to e-communication (b) Basic Computer Operations (c) Division e-Communication Structure (d) Division Web Orientation (e) Internet Basic and (f) electronic mail. Th
is was done by assessing the participant’s technological level on computer operations, manipulation of the internet and orients them with the proposed Division e-Communication Structure which shall be implemented in the future. The training also emphasized the importance of internet particularly the electronic mail (e-mail) as an effective tool in communication. Moreover, on-line enrichment activities were given to reinforce their interest and appreciate the importance of internet. Mr. Victorino A. Fuentes Jr. Division ICT Coordinator discusses the Objective of the training, overview of the topics and the importance of establishing e-Communication Process in Gensan Division. The topic was followed up by Information Drive on Project ALERT the Regional ICT Flagship Project of Director Almeda which was given by Ms. Maria Theresa P. Pelones, Division Project ALERT Coordinator. 
Topic 1: Basic Computer Operation-àSpeaker: Ms. Aida Nale. The topic discusses the basic parts of computer, How to set-up the devices and peripherals, How to turn the PC on, Mouse Operations and the parts of the keyboard. The speaker emphasized the importance of knowing the parts of computer and its peripherals, how to connect this parts and its peripherals to the computer system. Participants are also exposed with desktop management and learn how to create and manage their files. 
Topic 2: Division Web Orientation-à Speaker: Mr. Archie B. Catedral & Facilitated by Mr. Victorino A. Fuentes Jr. The topic discusses the importance of establishing an e-Communication Process in Gensan Division. It explains the proposed communication workflow based on the established processes and how information technology helps in the dissemination and retrieval of data. Emphasis was given to the rules and responsibilities of records, promotional and MIS department.
Topic 3: Division Web Orientation-àSpeaker:Mr. Valentine H. Loable. The topic discusses the uses of internet, basic parts of the webpage and the different types of search engine. Following the discussion the speaker introduces the Gensan website indicating its special features, its accessibility, special services and electronic communication media and devices used. It was ended with a demonstration on the used of Division Human Resource Information System particularly the updating of Personal Data Sheet and Service Records
Topic 4: Internet Basic:-àSpeaker: Ms. Melanie V. Daan. The topic discusses the importance of internet as an effective tool in delivering and sharing of information in the web. It was highlighted with on-line hands-on activities in searching information using the different tools and strategies to abbreviate the time of finding information on the web. The Speaker demonstrated different strategies in searching like the used of (a) translation of search request into search term (b) combining search terms, (c) Boolean logic and (4) Pseudo-Boolean Logic method. The topic was ended with a Hands-on Activity.
Topic 5: Electronic Mail:-àSpeaker: Ms. Maria Theresa P. Pelones. The topic discusses the importance of electronic mail as a means of delivering and sharing of information in the web. The speaker exposes that participants with the information regarding the workflow of electronic mail, signing up a personal e-mail account, how to access yahoo mail and basic email operation that includes composing, and sending, personalizing, attaching documents, searching, customizing and searching for messages through demonstration- hands on activity. Participants are expected to create their own email account, create, customize and attached all activity files and send it to the speaker’s and Division IT Coordinator’s email account to ensure mastery of the training module
